Rock to benefit the PHS Commissioned Officers Foundation
The Four Corners Area Branch of the Commissioned Officer Association (FC-COA) is proud to announce the 1st Annual FC-COA Mountain bike ride August 13, 2011 in Shiprock, NM to benefit the Public Health Service (PHS) Commissioned Officers Foundation. There are numerous sponsorship opportunities which include customized mile marker sponsorship, banner recognition, and printed program recognition. Please also consider the donation of store merchandise or gift cards for an on-site raffle. All proceeds will benefit the PHS Commissioned Officers Foundation. Proceeds contribute to fulfilling the mission of the PHS Commissioned Officers Foundation (http://www.phscof.org) which includes:

• Four Corners “Earn a bike program” to battle childhood obesity with exercise The 1st Annual Four Corners-Commissioned Officer Association Ride the
• Educational Scholarship Fund, local COA activities, and Scientific Symposiums.
• Promote education and training for health professionals and improve the capability
of the United States Public Health Service.

The U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps is an elite team of more than 6,500
well-trained, highly qualified public health professionals dedicated to delivering the Nation's public health promotion and disease prevention programs and advancing public health science. As one of America's seven Uniformed Services, the Commissioned Corps fills essential public health leadership and service roles within the Nation's Federal Government agencies and programs.
Biking enthusiasts can pedal a 5 mile family ride loop, 10 mile loop or a 15-30 mile loop course passing the Shiprock landmark. The ride is for the advancement of local health, bringing awareness to Childhood Obesity, and information how exercise and weight loss can prevent diabetes. The ride will require an entry fee of $25/person. Children ride free. T-shirts and water bottles will be handed out. Raffle tickets will also be sold with a chance at the grand prize raffle of a new mountain bike. This event is open to the public and will be well attended local Public Health Service officers, as well as their friends and families. Helmet safety will be enforced and required for participation in the ride. The PHS Commissioned Officers Foundation is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization. All donations are fully tax-deductible as charitable donations for income tax purposes. Thank you for your support.
