Tahoe-Sierra 100

14 July 2012

The Tahoe Sierra 100 is one of the most challenging ultra mountain bike races in North America. A true 100 mile course, no laps here my Brothers and Sisters. Due to the remoteness, this race differs substantially from other ultra mountain bike races. Racing on the rugged roads and trails used by the gold and silver miners of the 1850’s, now accessible only to hikers, bikers, horses and 4Wheel drive vehicles. The TS100 is being held on some of the same trails as the two biggest endurance events in North America. The Western States 100 ultra trail run, and The Tevis Cup horse endurance race. The TevisCup has been held for the last 57 years and is by far the Grand Daddy of all horse endurance races. The Western States 100 has been held for the last 39 years. Adequate mental and physical preparation are of the utmost importance. The mountains, although beautiful, are relentless in their challenge and unforgiving to the ill-prepared. Over 300 volunteers are very dedicated to make the Tahoe Sierra 100 a race of a lifetime. Many of the volunteers spend endless hours and days out on the Tahoe-Sierra course. They are truly the heart of this event. GBE uses 100% biodegradable ribbons and signs made out of wood pulp, and flour is used for all ground trail markings.
