The Bozeman & Big Sky area is the mountain biking capital of Montana. This guide describes the very best rides in our area. A few of these are short rides for evening spins, most are medium length rides for intermediate to advanced bikers, and a couple are among the best backcountry rides in the United States.
This guide is sort of a combination of a map and a book. It looks like a map at first - printed on plastic material and folded - but when it is unfolded it looks like the pages of a book laid out side by side. Its design allows you to carry a one ounce map in your pack instead of a one pound book.
21 rides are included in this guide, with color photos, elevation profiles, and custom made topo maps for each ride.

One destination biker and Beartooth customer, Vince from Seattle, wrote this after five days of biking in Bozeman & Big Sky: "It's not often that a riding vacation meets all your expectations, but this trip FAR exceeded them." We couldn't have said it better.

In April 2010 the Gallatin National Forest (GNF) announced the summer 2010 closure of another 110 miles of local trails to bicycles. The closures are the result of a lawsuit, filed by the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, the Montana Wilderness Association, and the Wilderness Society, which requested that up to 170 miles of trails in the Hyalite Porcupine Buffalo Horn Wilderness Study Area be closed to bicycles. This legal issue has been going on for 33 years, and may continue indefinitely. If additional lawsuits are filed in the future there may be more trail closures. Rides in this guide which could be closed are Emerald Lake, Hyalite to South Cottonwood, Grizzly Loop, and Buffalo Horn to Porcupine. Please contact the GNF or Beartooth Publishing for information regarding these trails after sumer 2010.
