Mountain Bike! Wisconsin also features interesting and entertaining photographs, vivid descriptions of native flora and fauna, a glossary of mountain biking terms, and tips on mountain biking etiquette, and a list of ride recommendations for special interests.

Including Mountain Bike! The Great Lakes States, Phil Van Valkenberg has authored seven books on bicycling in Wisconsin and the Midwest. He has been involved with bicycle route mapping since 1972, and he began riding off-road in the Chequamegon National Forest in 1974. In 1983, with a group of friends, he founded the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival, the nation's largest mountain bike event. He continues his love of off-road riding by racing occasionally and exploring every new trail system he can find.
