About the authors
Jacques Marais is a professional photographer and writer, and a regular contributor to a range of local and international travel, airline and outdoor publications, newspapers and websites. Previous books include titles for both Struik and New Holland Publishing covering outdoor survival, hiking and adventure racing. In 2004 he and the Mills co-wrote Best Mountain Bike Rides in South Africa, published by Struik. He is based in Cape Town.
Susanna Mills is the founding editor of Ride magazine. With her husband Herman she has co-authored two other books on the subject: The Gary fisher RSA MTB Trails Guidebook and Adventure Sports: Mountain Biking. The Mills duo also initiated and promoted several well-established off-road bicycle events together, including Rhodes, Koranna, Urban Assault, the Logwood and Barberton Classics.
